The person that I received these pictures from ensures me that they are the genuine article and that his camera was total automatic and could not possibly have caused a double exposure. However his brother camera was totally configurable and he made adjustment to the shutter speed to see the trace of the sparkler. Both cameras were 35mm film cameras.

These pictures were taken at a family party on the 5th November 1996. Look closely and you will see the start of what looks like a child's face in one and a full child's face in the other. Let me know what you think by e-mailing the address below.

Article and Pictures by Ewan Cameron

The event happened in May this year. I was on holiday in the highlands with my wife and we were walking along the road in Glen Etive when we turned a corner and noticed a woman sitting alone about 50 yards away on what looked to be a rock island in the middle of the river. She looked like she might be an artist, because she stood and picked up what we assumed to be a sketchpad then returned to where she had been sitting.

I mentioned to my wife that the scenery would make a nice photograph, so I walked off the road and took the snap with my digital camera. I intended to erase the woman from the photograph when I returned home.

When I opened the file on my computer, I looked for the woman and was surprised that I could not see her because when she stood up, she had looked very tall. Instead, there was another figure which after I had zoomed in on, I estimated to be only about 1 metre tall and did not look like any woman, or man for that matter, that I have ever seen.

I contacted Sony, the manufacturer of my camera, to make sure that the image was not the result of a fault in the camera and they have assured me that "whatever is in the image was there when I took the photograph".

Thank you for replying so swiftly to my email. Here are more details leading up to and after taking the attached photo's: The date was the 8th of May 2004 and the time was 13.45, although my camera recorded it as 12.45. This was because I had not yet reset it to BST. As I mentioned we were in Glen Etive and had parked the car and had walked about 3 miles when we first saw the woman, we had just turned a corner on the road and were side on to her. She was below us, about 50 yards away and side on to us. She looked around and up at us and I wondered how she could have known we were there as the noise from the river was loud, even from where we were. She wore a blue waterproof jacket zipped up over a white blouse and black leggings tucked into brown walking boots. As I mentioned, she was very tall, thin and had short black hair. She had what we assumed to be artist materials spread out around her. I mention all of these facts because none of these appeared in the photo as you will see. I said to my wife that I would take the photo, and as we were in a very remote place I did not want the woman to feel threatened so I walked some way off the road and past the woman, turned around and took the photo without looking through the viewfinder. Later my wife told me that the woman had watched me all the time. When I returned to my wife, she said that she had suddenly started to feel unwell, so we decided to walk back to the car. As I mentioned, I contacted Sony and emailed them the photo which they agreed was genuine, but they did not know what the figure was. They mentioned that it could have been a "spirit orb," although I am doubtful, as it appears exactly where the woman was and I think that is too much of a coincidence. If you are interested, I still have all of the correspondence with Sony. I swear all of these fact are true and I hope that you do not think that I am some sort of crank. All that I am looking for is some sort of explanation of what was going on that day. I have attached the original photo and also a couple of enhanced ones of the figure. When you look at the original, zoom in on the blue smudge on the rock island.
