Chillingham is well worth a visit. It was a warm mid summer's day when we paid our visit. Our very first thought of the castle was that it was very cold which seemed strange, given the temperature outside.

My knowledge of Chillingham Castle was limited, but in essence there was thousands of people tortured and killed in the castle dungeons and all the dead were dumped in the nearby lake. There have been reports of a blue-ish light flashing past people. This is believed to be the spirit of a small boy who met a gruesome end. When the castle was being renovated workmen discovered the skeleton of a small child that had been placed in a room tied to a chair that was then bricked up. This room was behind the fireplace in the grey room. When I visited Chillingham this room was not open to the public. I took pictures in all the rooms, but paid particular attention to the dungeons.

Whilst my partner and myself were in one of the rooms in the castle we both had a strange experience. A continuous creaking noise was coming from the corner of the room nearby a bench. My first thought was that it was the floorboards and the joists from this very old building were making the noise as people were walking in other rooms. As I explained this to my partner we suddenly went very cold and our breath was visible in front of our faces. We found this experience alarming, but before we left I took a picture of where the creaking was coming from, and to my surprise an orb was in that very location.

When I returned home there were orbs in only five of my 50 pictures taken at Chillingham Castle .

I visited to Chillingham Castle on May 2002 after watching Scariest Places on Earth on Sky.   I wasn't disappointed.
